The door hinge connects the door to the body of the vehicle enabling it to rotate when opening and closing. GM used a roller style detent door hinge that deteriorates over time causing it to corrode and give a hard time opening and closing the door, produce loud squeaks or clunks even if greased properly every now and then. The driver side lower door hinge can easily be located on the door hinge and can be replaced by removing the door. However, some parts like the cover trims, wire harnesses need to be removed before doing so.
The replacement door hinge isn't painted but coated with zinc for resistance to corrosion.
After installation, shut the door slowly and make sure that it aligns properly to determine if adjustments are needed to be made.
