Also called as VTC or VVT Solenoid control valve is responsible for making sure the oil pressure reaches the variable cam assembly which is responsible for the timing of your vehicle. Engines with this solenoid valve depends on oil pressure to run properly and is a common problem with these vehicles.
If your vehicle won't go past 3000 RPM, a check engine light (CEL) with code P2646 or P2647 shows up on your dash or your vehicle is running poorly then you may have a problem with your VTEC Solenoid. The spool valve solenoid assembly can easily be located inside the engine bay behind the engine on the passenger side of the vehicle and can be removed by removing 3 bolts. It is advisable to replace the spool valve assembly with the oil pressure switch instead of just replacing the oil pressure switch.
